Friends Will Be Friends foi composta por John Deacon e Freddie Mercury. O vocalista queria presentear seu público com outro hino atemporal como We Are The Champions. Com uma melodia eficaz e um refrão facilmente memorável, a música tinha um ótimo potencial para se tornar um sucesso. Mas ela não obteve o mesmo que a A Kind Of Magic conseguiu, ficando apenas no 14° lugar na parada britânica. A música – que faz parte do 12° álbum da banda, intitulado A Kind of Magic – foi lançada em 9 de junho de 1986, tendo como lado b Seven Seas of Rhye.
O videoclipe da música foi filmado em 15 de maio de 1986, nos Estúdios JVC em Wembley, onde o grupo se preparava para a sua futura turnê, intitulada Magic Tour, que seria a última de Freddie Mercury. O vídeo mostra a banda no palco, com um público entusiasmado formado por membros do fã-clube oficial, onde cada participante tinha uma camisa onde estava escrito: “Sou um fã do Queen (I´m a Queen fan).
